I just got a Canon Xti DLSR as a gift to replace my old EOS 1000F 35mm. All the Canon lenses work, but I have a 28mm Sigma lens that provokes an Err 99 from the camera when I shoot.
A bit of web research suggests that I should get it re-chipped to work with the newer camera. I can find no details on where to go or direct reports from people who have had it done. Has anybody done this?

Before you spend a lot of money, take your XTi to a camera store that sells Sigma lenses and try out the new ones and see if the err 99 shows up. It may well be a Sigma/Canon XTi issue.
