I need a lens for my Canon XTI that is equally good for landscape shots as it would be for taking shots of my one year old daughter. Something that shoots wide, perhaps has IS, and isn't too expensive. I'm open to non-Canon lenses at this point.
I just got a Canon Xti DLSR as a gift to replace my old EOS 1000F 35mm. All the Canon lenses work, but I have a 28mm Sigma lens that provokes an Err 99 from the camera when I shoot.
A bit of web research suggests that I should get it re-chipped to work with the newer camera. I can find no details on where to go or direct reports from people who have had it done. Has anybody done this?
